Enough With The Obama/Hitler Comparisons

For almost a year now, intelligent people have been forced to endure all kinds of idiocy coming from opponents of health care reform and people who oppose Obama's presidency. Perhaps the most ludicrous assertions from the right are the constant comparisons of Obama to Hitler.

Now, I could spend hours attempting to seek out this mysterious link between Obama and Hitler, but such a thing doesn't exist and it is more entertaining to make fun of these crazy people.

Here is a video that pokes fun at this political anomaly:

Here is Jon Stewart's The Daily Show bringing some Obama/Hitler comedy:

Ok, so maybe Obama isn't just like Hitler. Maybe, just maybe, Obama is the Anti-Christ?

Congressman Barney Frank addresses the Nazi/Hitler comparisons among other things at a town hall meeting:

It was refreshing to see Frank treat that stupid lady with the same contempt she brought to the town hall meeting.

What I hate most about this: Baseless comparisons and accusations do nothing but insight negative emotions, especially within people who are not capable of rational thought. In reality, Obama and Hitler's similarities begin and end with successful public speaking and popularity among their supporters.

  1. People have always compared situations and people they don't like to Nazi Germany and Hitler - it's Godwin's Law. Obama is certainly not the first to get this treatment - in fact I think it was much more common when GW Bush was in office. Of course, many more parallels were drawn at that time with much more evidence sited, as in Naomi's Wolf's book End of America, summaried here in this article.
