Extortion isn't cool

Over the past few months two huge extortion schemes/sex scandals surfaced before the public eye.

First celebrity target was Rick Pitino, future hall of fame Men's Basketball Coach at Louisville University.


Now its David Letterman, who strangely made the news public on his show.


Extortion disgusts me. Insane media coverage just makes it worse.

In Letterman's case, the would-be blackmailer wasn't actually any of the female employees he slept with, just a stupid man looking to make some money.

But in Pitino's case, the woman he slept with waited years to try and extort him. Her false claims fell on deaf ears but the story was on every front page and the media frenzy had begun. More details here or here.

What I hate most about this: It takes two to tango. This fake outrage directed at Letterman is ridiculous. Though Pitino and Letterman's actions were unsavory to most, those women slept with them willingly. Probably quite eagerly. Like its that big of a surprise that an unmarried late night talk show MEGA star would sleep with female co-workers??? Get over it.
