Hey MLB, can a guy get a division race?

This baseball season is ending without very much excitement. If it weren't for the NL wild card race, it would be devoid of any action all together. That is, unless you count bench clearing brawls like the one between the Yanks and Jays in Toronto a few nights ago.

With the Yankees having such a huge lead in their division and the Red Sox having a sizable lead in the AL wild card race, things have gotten pretty boring in the MLB.

However there was one exciting series this week between the Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants, the two NL teams battling it out for the final NL playoff spot. On Wednesday night San Francisco, aided by a 9th inning error from Troy Tulowitzki (a solid defensive player who hardly ever makes fielding mistakes) came 90 feet away from tying the game after trailing going into the final inning.

I turned on the game to see the botched double play attempt and was immediately draw into the tension of the game. I thought to myself, this is what this season has been missing! Two teams battling for their very survival, while the rest of the leagues' playoff spots are virtually set in stone.

Unfortunately, the Giants didn't get the final hit to tie the game, and the Rockies have a 3 game lead in the wild card race. I guess I'll just have to pay more attention to the NFL until October comes and MLB action revs up again.
