What is Kanye West’s major malfunction? Normally, right here would be a link to this piece of video. Unfortunately the corporate powers that be are doing their best to wipe it from the world wide web. I have to say they’re doing a good job.
What I hate more then West's idiocy is how media hyenas pounce on stuff like this, and feast for days. Alas, its big ratings.
But why not have the incident on YouTube if the news networks are airing it seemingly on a loop since it occurred Sunday night?
Thankfully, YouTube still has Kanye’s other microphone missteps: I love Mike Myers' face and a backstage outburst at a previous VMA awards show.
Another video that has mysteriously disappeared from the Internet: a clip of Nathaniel Hornblower (alter ego of MCA of the Beastie Boys) storming the stage at the VMAs in 1994 to protest R.E.M.'s video "Everybody Hurts" winning best direction over Spike Jonez's video for the hit song Sabotage. That instance of rudeness was more funny then despicable and it would be nice if people would remember the VMAs is a broadcast where seemingly anything can happen.
MTV should have learned its lesson after previous public meltdowns, not to put microphones in West's face during live broadcasts, but apparently they have not. Technically, this time MTV didn’t put the mic in front of West, he ripped it from Taylor Swift's hands, only to embarrass
himself and try his best to ruin Swifts’ award moment.
What followed was another rabid media frenzy, which is common these days when it celebrities get caught on camera doing stupid things. However the frenzy lost its steam when Patrick Swayze passed away and that news became more important. The media foams at the bit for this kind of “news” yet when there is real news to be covered, they’re busy digging through Micheal Jackson autopsy files or camped out Jon and Kate's back yard.
I’m adding fuel to the media fire right now, by even mentioning West’s antics here so I’ll wrap it up with this: Kanye West is a person with ton of money and a lot of eyes on him at all times. Though it doesn't excuse his behavior, he was obviously heavily intoxicated and suffered the untimely death of his mother less than two years ago. Its impossible to tell if that contributes to his sporadic poor behavior, but to dismiss it would be unfair.
When it comes down to it: MTV sucks. They don’t even show music videos anymore.
Breaking news!!!! kanye west just interrupted Patrick swayze's funeral to say Michael Jackson's was the best funeral of all time!!!
